Well, in the WW community, my username is blondekel13… but my real name is Mikael. I’m 23, a recent college grad, and I love the health principles that WW has taught me (along with many magazines and other health websites).
Before I started WW, portion control meant absolutely nothing to me and I never censored what I ate. When I wanted something, I ate it. Luckily, I was an active dancer so that kept me in shape. However, when I had to stop dancing, my body softened quite a bit and I ended up gaining the college “Freshman 20″ as a senior in high school.
Let it be said: I have never been unhappy with my body.
So I officially joined WW in January 2009. Much to my surprise, I loved tracking what I ate and the fact that I should have only a certain amount of food a day. I learned that just one of my normal meals would count for a whole days’ worth of points or more! That really put food into a good perspective for me. I may not always be the best at sticking with the WW method, bouncing from different tracking methods, but I like to keep tabs on myself.
Ever since, activity has become a huge part of my life. My activities of choice are usually Pole Fitness and Zumba Fitness. Zumba Fitness has become such a huge part of my life that I got certified to teach in July 2011. My life is much better when I am able to get in some heart-pounding activities.
This blog is kind of to help me chronicle my habits, struggles, strengths, questions and insights when it comes to overall well-being when it comes to health, food, and fitness. Care to join me?
